We spent Saturday shopping, and laying by the pool. I started to read one of David’s books (I will have to take more books with me next time). And I have worked out which types of books I enjoy reading – biographies.
On Sunday morning we decided to go to the Beach. Tavira is situation a mile or so from the coast, with a tidal river that leads out to an island which sits between Tavira and the sea. The tourist board says………..
A short ferry trip takes you to the Ilha de Tavira to one of the best beaches along the entire coast. Clean, safe bathing, protected by the offshore sandbars is complimented by a few cafes and bars. The scenic location of Tavira, protected by its natural lagoon, offers tranquility and the opportunity to observe nature and birdlife at its best.
I have never seen a beach so clean, so big and with so few people on it. Most of the other people on the beach seemed to be topless or naked; there were plenty of young attractive women and men who looked liked they arrived in the 1970’s and haven’t shaved since. The beach was beautiful but it was still sandy, so I kept my shoes on, can’t stand the stuff.
We ate seafood in a beach-side café which was probably one of the best meals we had during the week, before getting the boat back to Tavira. The evening was spent packing, and having a quiet dinner and drink in the bar; we had to be up at 6am to get the flights home.
